Say what you will about Stephen King, but the man takes things in proper stride and with a good sense of humor; even near fatal car accidents. Back in the long long ago, before we were even a twinkle in the internet’s eye, the famed writer of The Shinning, The Stand, The Dark Tower, and It was taking a leisurely stroll in Lovell, Maine when a distracted driver hit him from behind with his Dodge Caravan. The driver was apparently distracted by his dog, and the impact sent King flying through the air; leaving him with a collapsed lung and multiple fracture in his leg and hip. Months later, under the guise of “not wanting it to end up on eBay”, King had his lawyer purchase the 1985 Dodge Caravan for $1500. The real reason we’ve heard King wanted the van? In order to smash it to pieces with a baseball bat and sledgehammer of course. However, his lawyers had the van destroyed before King could get his hands on it.
