In modern television, you’d be hard pressed to find a vehicle more important to it’s show’s mythos than Dean and Sam Winchester’s black 1967 Chevy Impala is to story of Supernatural. Sure, you could start babbling about some Star Trek series, but the those big ole’ spaceships are more locations than modes of transportation; they have no intimacy, no personality. The Impala, passed down from their father, is not only how the Winchester’s get from case to case, it’s also a symbol of their childhoods, their base of operations (complete with a trunk full of weapons, and possibly copies of “Busty Asian Beauties” magazine…NERD JOKE!!), and (spoiler alert) the one thing that can save the world from Armageddon. It was once referred to by one of the characters as “the most important object in the universe”. To further put into perspective how important the car is to the show; at one point, it gets totaled, and it’s rebuilding get it’s own rock n’ roll montage. The Impala isn’t a prop folks; it’s a plot device, it’s Sam and Dean’s home, and more importantly, it’s a character.
